Helga

Helga was found living behind a dumpster, surviving on whatever she could find just to stay alive. Hungry, alone, and starving; she was brought to Broward County Animal Control.

When Team Moose Animal Rescue received the call to help, we didn’t hesitate, we said YES. Helga was pulled from and brought to safety.

Helga was born with a cleft palate, and by the time she was found, she was severely malnourished. Her cleft palate was filled with debris; wood splinters, plastic, sand, hair, food wrappers, and more, causing a serious and painful infection.

Once under the care of Team Moose Animal Rescue, Helga was scheduled for a procedure so her cleft palate could be cleared and the infection treated. From there, she was referred to a specialist. To eat and drink safely, Helga needed corrective surgery, which has now been done, and she has recovered.

Helga is a considered a medical needs pup as she has pancreatic insufficiency and will require lifelong medication to stay healthy.

At about 1 1/2 years old and 28 pounds, Helga is believed to be an Exotic Bully.

Helga is ready to leave her past behind and meet a forever family of her own!
